According to the court's ruling in Buyan and Others vs. Greece, the Greek government has been found guilty of nationalizing the properties of 14 ethnic Turks near the village of Glyphada, in the region of Rodopi, and of delaying the payment of compensation.
The ECtHR ruled that Greece violated the sixth article of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which concerns the right to a fair trial, and the first article of Protocol 1, which is related to the protection of property. Greece will be required to pay nearly 37,000 euros to eight of the 14 plaintiffs.
