Dozens detained in major crime operation

Turkish police have detained 39 people in simultaneously conducted operations against two different criminal organizations.

Eskişehir Police Department anti-smuggling and organized crime units conducted an operation against a criminal loan sharking syndicate, threatening them when not paid. Within the scope of the operation, police raided several addresses in Eskişehir, Ankara and Ağrı provinces, detaining nine people and seizing six rifles.

Meanwhile, 30 people were taken into custody for drug trafficking after Malatya Specially Authorized Prosecutor Özden Doğan requested a police operation against a criminal network. With the coordination of the Malatya Police Department's anti-smuggling and organized crime units, police from Malatya, İstanbul, Diyarbakır and Mersin raided several locations, detaining 30 people and seizing many illegal substances and unlicensed guns.
