Young Civilians to discuss Turkey, Middle East

11 April 2012 /TODAY’S ZAMAN
An online network for the Middle East, initiated by the independent pro-democracy civil society organization the Young Civilians (Genç Siviller), is going to organize its second summit in Bursa province over the weekend to bring together academics, journalists and activists from Turkey and Middle Eastern nations to discuss a number of topics related to Turkey’s internal and external issues and its diplomatic role in the region.

Among the participants are Fawaz Zakri of the Syrian National Council (SNC); Chairman of the Foreign Ministry’s Center for Strategic Research (SAM) Bülent Aras; Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s chief advisor, İbrahim Kalın; Radikal columnist Cengiz Çandar; and Zaman columnist Abdülhamit Bilici. Many other diplomats and international journalists are expected to follow the conference and simultaneous translations will be available in Turkish, Arabic and English.
