Parents who beat baby to death sentenced to life

Gülay Baba and stepfather Ahmet Dudak had beaten Yasin on the day of his death, allegedly because of his incessant crying. Due to the blows of his caretakers, Yasin died from cerebral hemorrhaging.

After killing the child, Baba and Dudak took him to the hospital, where they told the doctors he had “fallen off a chair.” Baba, in her statement to the public prosecutor, said her husband would regularly beat Yasin. The Bakırköy 2nd High Criminal Court finally reached a decision in the seven-year case. Both parents were charged with the “deliberate murder of a small child” and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Yasin's father, Mustafa Çamyar, said he “worked very hard for the punishment of his son's murderers.”
