Kosovo Davutoğlu’s first stop on Balkans tour

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on Friday departed from İstanbul for Kosovo which will be the first stop of his tour of Balkan countries where he will be holding comprehensive consultations on the latest developments taking place in the region.

During his first official visit to Kosovo as foreign minister, Davutoğlu will hold talks with Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri and Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj.

Davutoğlu, whose wife, Sare Davutoğlu, is accompanying him during the visit, will proceed to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday when he will have talks with members of the trilateral presidency, the high representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the leaders of the main Bosnian political parties.

On Aug. 30, the first day of Eid al-Fitr, the traditional celebration that concludes the month-long fasting of Ramadan, Davutoğlu, along with Grand Mufti Mustafa Ceric and the Bosnian member of the trilateral presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic, will greet people of Turkish origin living in Sarajevo.

During his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Davutoğlu will also attend a ceremony at the University of Tuzla where he will be awarded an honorary Doctorate title and deliver a speech. He will meet with officers from a Turkish military unit camp in Butmir and will get together with academics and nongovernmental organizations as well as pay a visit to the historic city of Mostar.
