The Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK) has completed an initial postmortem examination of the body of former DJ and popular talk show host Defne Joy Foster, who died on Wednesday morning at a friend’s house, but has not reached a conclusive finding on the exact cause of death.

Foster died at a friend’s house in Caddebostan on Wednesday. The likeliest causes were thought to be respiratory failure or a heart attack triggered by Foster’s asthma. Some commentators had suggested that excessive alcohol consumption or narcotics could have been the cause. However, the autopsy revealed no such finding. The external examination of Foster’s body revealed no indication of foul play. The internal examination also did not reveal the cause of death.

The next step in establishing the cause of death will be a re-evaluation of tissue from her body by forensic experts. Officials at the ATK say this usually takes a month. One official said the tissue examination is similar to the autopsy conducted on Michael Jackson, adding that this type of detailed examination of tissue in most cases give definite results for the cause of death.
